2021 saw the return of the York Legal Walk which raises money for the Access to Justice Foundation. This charity, in turn, supports local citizens' advice bureaux, law centres and independent advice agencies and ensures the most disadvantaged members of society can have the legal help they need when they are most vulnerable.
Trainee solicitors Abbey Ainslie and Ben Challenger organised the Harrowells team this time around and they were joined, on the 28 June, by Charlotte Bowen, Dawn Darlison, Ella Dodgson, Amy Foweather, Becca Laffan, Robert Onyett, Lucy Phipps and Heather Robertson. Amy and Lucy also brought along their dogs to give their team a morale boost as they completed the largely riverside walk from the city centre to the outskirts and back.
Although social distancing rules remained in place at the time of the walk, arrangements were adapted to enable around 70 people to take part with phased departure of individual teams, complete with an official send off by the Lord Mayor, Mayoress and Sheriff of York.
The team raised over £500 – so many thanks to them and to all who contributed. If you would like to do so, you can still contribute to the Harrowells Team York Legal Walk fundraising page here
