Debra Jackson is a Senior Associate Solicitor in the Family Department at Harrowells. She joined the Firm in 2023 from a niche Family Law firm with a national presence. Debra has over 13 years’ experience in Family Law and Divorce, having initially worked as a specialist Family Law paralegal, before training and qualifying as a solicitor with a York based firm in 2017.
Dealing with all aspects of matrimonial finance and private Children Law matters, Debra has extensive experience in high value financial claims, including those with international elements and complex business and trust structures. Debra is also experienced in preparing pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements and acts with the greatest of care, sensitivity and discretion at all times.
Debra has a particular interest in cases involving unmarried parties and she has dealt with a range of cases in this area, including advising on protecting interests at the outset of cohabitation, negotiating settlements at the end of relationships, and representing clients in contested Court proceedings regarding the ownership of property by cohabiting parties.
Debra’s experience in children matters includes complex issues of parental alienation, relocation, and cases where a Guardian has been appointed to act for the children. She also represents clients in injunctions to provide protection from Domestic Abuse and approaches these matters in a calm, reassuring and sympathetic manner. Clients have praised her for her ongoing support and compassion when going through these difficult matters.
Known for her friendly and approachable manner, Debra works tirelessly to represent her clients’ best interests. She adapts her approach to suit the individual situation and is not averse to issuing Court proceedings and taking a robust and direct approach when required. Debra is, however, equally comfortable in negotiating settlements and will promote Alternative Dispute Resolution options where appropriate to ensure that clients receive the best value for money, and the quickest resolution possible in their personal circumstances.
Clients have complimented Debra’s ability to get to grips with large volumes of information swiftly, to deliver advice in a clear and concise way, and to ensure that their interests are protected throughout their case.
